Palm Springs- Hollywood's Playground
Palm Springs... Southern California's desert flower. Nestled in between the scenic San Jacinto mountains and the unforgettable Joshua Tree National Park, this oasis offers virtually endless sunshine—over 350 days of cloudless bliss every year.
For decades, those seeking an escape have found its warmth to be vivifying and rejuvenating. With its parks, tourism, and art, it's no wonder Palm Springs has gained its reputation as Hollywood's Playground.
For world-class recreation, Palm Springs and surrounding desert cities stand out as every golfer's dream. With over 100 expansive courses, the desert offers more tees than any other region in California. Just try keeping count of the numerous tournaments hosted here annually. In addition, Palm Springs offers an outdoor panorama which draws in and captivates millions of tourists annually to its mountains and parks.
When you're ready to kick back and relax, Palm Springs offers an array of public art installations and museums for you to explore. The locals know it as a hub for architectural modernism, and many of these iconic buildings are home to Zagat-rated restaurants. If that wasn't enough, every year the city hosts the Palm Springs International Film Festival, bringing in flurries of new, glamorous crowds from Hollywood and beyond.
For a desert paradise with class and culture, Palm Springs is a community you'll want to call home. And speaking of home, it may be difficult for you to decide just where you would like to live. Did you know that Palm Springs has over 44 unique neighborhoods? They are distinguished by specially designed Street plaques indicating which neighborhood you are in. Whether it's a Large, private Estate in the Vista Las Palmas or Old Las Palmas neighborhood or the new and trendy Escena development, there is something for you. The two home styles which are desirable in Palm Springs are Mid Century Modern and Spanish Style. Be sure to book early if you want to participate in the annual Modernism Week held every February. Hundreds of events will satisfy the lover of everything Mid Century Modern.
To fill your home with some unique items, be sure to visit the Vintage Market held the first Sunday of every month from October thru May. And for pricier items, check out the Uptown Design District where you can find some pretty amazing finds. A weekly event held year round is the ever popular Village fest on Thursday evenings right downtown with entertainment, food and vendors selling many handmade items among other things.
There are too many delicious Dining options to name so be prepared to try some amazing food and of course cocktails. Stay at the New Rowan Kimpton and enjoy spectacular views from the rooftop pool or Restaurant or if you want something truly unique, make reservations at one of the many, many Boutique hotels throughout the City.
After indulging in some R & R, you may want to walk off some of those calories at Indian Canyon or Tahquitz Canyon or for those not afraid of heights, take the Palm Springs Tramway up, hike or have dinner and enjoy the views because they are pretty spectacular!
I certainly can go on and on, but you get the idea...Palm Springs is not only just for retirees anymore!
